Joint teams of local Administration conducted extensive market checking in Karnah Sub Division of north Kashmir's Kupwara District and recovered a fine of Rs 22000 from erring shopkeepers for violation of rules during the holy month of Ramadan. According to details the inspection squad led by Tawheed Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad in-charge of essential commodities conducted the market checking in the Sub Division. During the series of inspections, some shopkeepers were found selling expired food items, underweight packages and violating other laws. Rotten eatables including vegetables, fruit, milk and milk products were destroyed during the drive The main purpose of the market checking was aimed to provide better quality of eatables to the customers during the month of Ramadan and also to check overcharging by the shopkeepers.
